512. Wilhelm YE DUYSTER Van HEERDEN93,25, son of 1024. Wilhelm Janszen DUTCHER (van HEERDEN). Born in Holland. Wilhelm died on 15 Sep 1655.93

By tradition (unsupported by documentation), the Dutcher family originated in France and went to Holland in the early 16th Century. Wilhelm and his father appear to have come from Heerden, a very small village about 30 miles north-northeast of Arnheim in Gelderland, Holland.25

The first wife of Wilhelm is unknown, but it is believed that it is this marriage that led to the two offspring (Roelof and Jan) and the NYS Dutcher line.25

In Salem, MA by June 1638. Removed to Southold, L. I., NY in 1650 where 1652 recorrds show him as a landowner; removed toEast Hampton, L.I., NY in 1653.27,112

In Eaqst Hampton was elected fence viewer in 1653, 1655 and 1657. Was an assistant selectman in 1654 and a chimney viewer in 1656 along with Lion Gardiner.112

Andries and his wife Geertje Hopper (Hoppen/Hoppe) came to the New Netherlands about 1651. In 1653 he was enrolled as a ‘burgher’ in New Amsterdam. He agreed to a land purchase in Harlem but died before the deed was completed. The name is likely from the plural of “Hop,” the Dutch word for the hop vine.96

544. Jochem Wouterszen VAN WEERT28, son of 1088. Wouter VAN WART. Born ca 1637 in Gouda, Netherlands. Jochem Wouterszen died aft 1708; he was 71. Buried in Sleepy Hollow Burial Ground.

Sailed from Utrecht, Holland on the ship "The Beaver" April 25th, 1659.28

(Some sources suggest he came on the ship "Faith" from Amsterdam, arriving March 1660.)

In 1666 granted a lot at Salt Meadows at Canarisia, part of the Flatlands across Jamaica Bay from Rockaway, NY. Member (with his wife) of the Dutch Church of New Amsterdam.115

Lived near Midwout (Flatbush) Long Island until 1683, sold a house and lot in Flatbush to Jan Auke van Nuys115 and then moved to Philipse Manor in Tarrytown. He and his wife are the sixth and seventh charter members of the Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow when it was founded in 1697. He served as Elder in Philipsburgh Church 1699-1701.41
On 4 Dec 1660 when Jochem Wouterszen was 23, he married Christina (Styntie) JANS in New Amsterdam.28
