Wilhelm Janszen DUTCHER (van HEERDEN). Born in Einigen, Brabant, Netherlands.
By tradition, the Dutcher family originated with a French family that migrated to Holland during the early 16th century. In 1679 there is record of a Gilbert de Saincthorent, son of Robert de Saincthorent (Lord of Fay) and an unnamed 'noble damsel' who was the daughter of Jean Duchier, Lord of the Council. There is, however, NO evidence to support the idea that the Dutcher family in Dutchess County, NY is related in any way to the French Duchier, Du Chier, de Chier or similar variants.

Wouter VAN WART. Born in Gouda, Netherlands.
Probably from Gouda, United Netherlands and settling in the Flushing and Midwout areas. When surnames became popular he assumed initially the name "van Goeda" and later "van Weert". Weert refers to low lying marshy country and probably refers to his area of origin in the Netherlands, but coud also have referred to Long Island. (NY Gen Biog Record 1928).
