Born in Antwerp in a house clled “The Sack” on the Rue du Sac (in Flemish, ZakStraat) in the vicinity of the Bourge or castle. His mother died in October 1606 and his father died in November 1606.
A series of articles by Paul Gibson Burton appeared in the NYGBR (67:157/246; 68:3/132/217 i 1936 and 1937) and were later reprinted in “The WINANS Family, Ancestors and Descendants of Clarence Hatfield Winans 1854-1942 of Linden, New Jersey” by Melda Haynes Shippey, found in the Special Collections of Rutgers University Library, New Brunswick, NJ (CS 71 .W56 1990).
